WALKING IN WISDOM

OUR HEART TOWARD THE NON-BELIEVER

Our approach toward those who do not share our faith reflects our true understanding of the gospel.

In a world full of diverse views and varying beliefs, it is easy for Christians to view non-believers through a lens of judgment, fear, or frustration. Yet, God calls us to a fundamentally different posture—one rooted in love, grace, and truth. When we look at scripture, we see that our approach toward those who do not share our faith reflects our true understanding of the gospel.

REMEMBER WHERE YOU CAME FROM

Before we look at others, we must look at ourselves. It is easy to slide into self-righteousness, but the Apostle Paul reminds us that none of us earned our way into God's grace.

"For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures... But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us." — Titus 3:3–5

Every believer was once a non-believer. Understanding this eliminates spiritual pride. We do not look down on those outside the faith; we recognize that, apart from grace, we are in the exact same position.

WALK IN WISDOM AND GRACE

Scripture gives clear instructions on how we ought to engage with those who do not believe. Our goal is not to win arguments, but to reflect Christ.

"Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one." — Colossians 4:5–6

BE READY TO GIVE AN ANSWER WITH GENTLENESS

We are called to share the hope within us, but the manner in which we share it matters just as much as the message itself.

"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..." — 1 Peter 3:15

Defending your faith should never mean becoming defensive or disrespectful. If we present truth without love, we risk driving people away from the very Savior we represent.

CONCLUSION

God's ultimate desire is not the condemnation of non-believers, but their redemption. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us that God is "patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

As believers, our task is simple:

Let us leave judgment to God and focus on being faithful witnesses of His love to everyone around us. Amen.
